Job Description

The incumbent of this position is responsible for the all the processes relating to the feeding, pre-start, start-up, monitoring, setup, control, emergency actions, quality, efficiency, sampling, 1st line maintenance tasks, cleaning, housekeeping, inspections and other related tasks relating to the operation, running and control of the Boilers. The incumbent is responsible to assist in any other production related tasks as and when required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Boiler Operation

Perform pre-start checks, start up, shutdown, monitor, control, setup, adjust, emergency and any other procedures relating to the start-up, operation and shut down / banking of the Boiler

Perform all inspections relating to the pre-start, start-up, shutdown, monitor, control, setup, adjust, emergency and any other procedures relating to the operation of the Boiler

Perform all blow downs as required before start-up, during the running and during the shutdown / banking of the Boiler in the event that this is not automated

Perform all relevant monitoring, controlling and adjusting tasks on the Boiler to ensure optimum efficiencies and safe operation

Perform relevant sample checks on all aspects relating to the operation and efficiency of the Boiler e.g. Fuel samples, water samples, TDS, etc.

Perform all 1st line maintenance tasks relating to the start-up, operation and shut down of the Boiler e.g. remove fly-ash, greasing, cleaning, etc.

Perform all relevant housekeeping tasks in the Boiler house

Complete all relevant documents relating to the sampling, inspections, and monitoring and controlling tasks related to the operation of the Boiler

Perform all relevant tasks to ensure that water quality is at the correct standard e.g. chemical additions / adjustments

Occupational Health and Safety​

Daily inspections are conducted on the machinery and surrounding area in order to identify and Health and safety hazards and reported to the H & S representatives or Supervisor / Manager

Comply to all Health and safety regulations, procedures, policies, standard operating procedures and other standards at all times e.g. PPE

Comply to all operational standard operating procedures at all times

Perform all other reasonable instructions relating to all aspects of the business / operation of the Boiler as and when required

 

 

Job Requirement

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Boiler operator in a production process environment
  • Formal training / qualification in the operation of Boilers done through an accredited institution
  • In depth understanding of Boiler construction, Boiler inspection, Boiler operation and Boiler control
  • In depth understanding of Boiler efficiencies and how to maximize Boiler operation and steam generation
  • Ability to give input to and to comply to standard operating procedures relating to the operation of a boiler and related processes
  • Ability to perform relevant pre-start, start-up, banking the Boiler, inspection and continuous monitoring tasks relating to the Boiler and the operation thereof
  • Ability to perform corrective actions when deviations from normal operating conditions arise on the Boiler
  • Ability to take relevant samples on e.g. water, oil, TDS, etc.
  • Ability to setup and monitor the Boiler settings e.g. airflow, auto controls, fuel jet etc. to ensure correct quality, efficiency and steam generation
  • Ability to perform quality checks, take corrective action on quality deviations and reporting such to the Supervisor / Manager
  • Ability to perform first line maintenance tasks on Boiler e.g. cleaning, boiler blow down, Mowbrey blow down, Sight glass blow down, Fuel stock control, etc
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, clearly and accurately in English (First or Second Language) and complete relevant reports and inspection lists accurately or
  • Vietnamese speaker with the ability to make use of an interpreter or relevant APP on an Android or iApple device to be fully familiar with requirements outlined above as well as completing the relevant reports and inspection lists

Others

  • Basic understanding of the supply and demand chain
  • Basic understanding of the preventative maintenance processes required to ensure safe Boiler operation and efficiencies
  • Basic understanding of all related legislation and ability to comply to relevant legislation.
  • Must be able to work shifts, weekends, overtime and Public Holidays when required
  • Physical ability to climb up and down stairs and other structures
